Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve
Introduction
Udanti–Sitanadi Tiger Reserve, located in Chhattisgarh, was notified as a Tiger Reserve in 2008. Formed by combining the Udanti and Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuaries, it is part of the Central Indian landscape and is well known for its efforts to conserve the endangered Wild Water Buffalo along with tigers.

Location
The reserve lies in Gariaband and Dhamtari districts of Chhattisgarh, close to the Odisha border.
History
Udanti and Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuaries were merged and notified as a Tiger Reserve in 2008 under Project Tiger to strengthen conservation in eastern-central India.
Landscape, Geography & Habitat
The reserve comprises undulating hills, plateaus, valleys, teak and mixed deciduous forests, bamboo patches, grasslands and riverine habitats.
Flora
Dominant vegetation includes teak, sal, saja, bija, dhaora, mahua, tendu, bamboo, jamun and diverse medicinal plants.
Fauna
Important wildlife includes Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Dhole, Sloth Bear, Gaur, Sambar, Chital, Four-horned Antelope, Wild Boar, Indian Giant Squirrel and the endangered Wild Water Buffalo.
Rivers & Water Bodies
The Udanti and Sitanadi rivers, together with numerous perennial streams, sustain the reserve’s wildlife.
Other Attractions
Forest safaris, birdwatching, scenic river valleys and interpretation centres are major attractions.

Summers are hot, monsoons bring substantial rainfall and winters are cool and pleasant.
