India Forest Rest House & Government Tourism Accommodation Directory — State-wise
For each state, the directory will identify the major wildlife destinations, relevant government accommodation providers, official booking websites where established, and the procedure to follow when online booking is unavailable.
Scope: Forest Rest Houses (FRHs), forest department lodges, government jungle camps, state tourism hotels and tourist bungalows. Private hotels and resorts are excluded.
Distinction has been made between three booking arrangements: direct online reservation, reservation through a government tourism corporation, and accommodation requiring approval from the relevant forest authority. An official information website will not be labelled a booking portal unless that function is established.
Part A — State-wise booking directory
The following is a state-level booking guide, not yet an exhaustive inventory of individual rest houses. A property is included by name only where there is a reasonably identifiable government accommodation arrangement.
1. Andhra Pradesh
Wildlife destinations: Nagarjunsagar–Srisailam, Papikonda, Sri Venkateswara and Coringa.
Government tourism accommodation can be sought through Andhra Pradesh Tourism. Forest rest houses require separate confirmation from the controlling forest division.
Booking procedure: Select a government tourism property through the tourism operator, or contact the relevant Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) for an FRH. Obtain confirmation of public eligibility and room allotment before payment.

2. Arunachal Pradesh
Wildlife destinations: Pakke, Namdapha, Kamlang, Eaglenest, Mehao and Dibang.
Forest accommodation arrangements vary by protected area. A single statewide FRH reservation portal has not been established in this research.
Booking procedure: Contact the relevant reserve’s Field Director, Divisional Forest Officer or tourism office. Request accommodation availability and clarify entry-permit requirements separately.

3. Assam
Wildlife destinations: Kaziranga, Manas, Nameri, Orang, Raimona, Dibru-Saikhowa and Dehing Patkai.
Government tourism accommodation and forest-department accommodation must be booked through their respective operators.
Booking procedure: Check Assam Tourism Development Corporation accommodation first. For accommodation inside or directly controlled by a protected area, obtain booking instructions from the park or wildlife division.

4. Bihar
Wildlife destinations: Valmiki Tiger Reserve, Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary and other protected areas.
Booking procedure: Check the Valmiki Tiger Reserve’s published tourism information for accommodation options. For departmental rest houses, contact the reserve management and obtain written allotment.

Wildlife destinations: Gir, Girnar, Blackbuck National Park, Wild Ass Sanctuary, Marine National Park and other sanctuaries.
Booking procedure: Check Gujarat Tourism accommodation and the relevant protected area’s forest authority separately. Gir safari permits and government accommodation should not be assumed to be a combined reservation.

9. Himachal Pradesh
Him Atithi – Jal Shakti Vibhag
Verified government rest house booking
The government operates an online booking system for 87 departmental rest houses and related facilities. These are Jal Shakti Department properties, not Forest Department FRHs.

- Open the Him Atithi portal. https://himatithi.nic.in/
- Select Book Rest House and choose a district and property.
- Apply online and complete payment.
- Check confirmation on the acknowledgement receipt or through Check Booking Status.
The official FAQ says booking through telephone, email or fax is not supported for this particular system.

For Forest Department FRHs near Great Himalayan National Park, Pin Valley, Simbalbara and other protected areas, contact the controlling forest authority separately.

10. Jharkhand
Wildlife destinations: Betla, Palamau, Dalma, Hazaribagh and other sanctuaries.
Government tourism accommodation: Jharkhand Tourism
Booking procedure: Check the tourism authority for government-operated accommodation near the destination. For Betla and Palamau forest accommodation, obtain reservation instructions from the tiger reserve management. For other FRHs, contact the respective DFO.

11. Karnataka
Wildlife destinations: Bandipur, Nagarahole, Bhadra, BRT, Kali, Kudremukh and other protected areas.
The main government accommodation operator to investigate is the Jungle Lodges & Resorts corporation (JLR). Its accommodation is distinct from forest-department rest houses.

Booking procedure: Open the official website, choose the destination and accommodation, check available dates and package inclusions, and complete the reservation through the operator.
Forest rest houses that are not managed by JLR require separate confirmation from the relevant forest division.
Reserve-specific accommodation and booking arrangements should be checked individually for Bandipur, Nagarahole, Bhadra, BRT and Kali.

12. Kerala
Wildlife destinations: Periyar, Parambikulam, Wayanad, Eravikulam, Silent Valley, Chinnar and other protected areas.
Government forest tourism accommodation can be investigated through the relevant reserve management and the Kerala Forest Department.

13. Madhya Pradesh
Wildlife destinations: Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Panna, Satpura, Sanjay-Dubri, Ratapani, Madhav, Veerangana Durgavati and other protected areas.
Government Tourism Accommodation
Booking procedure: Find a government-operated property near the chosen reserve, check availability and use the accommodation operator’s reservation instructions.
For Forest Department rest houses, contact the reserve’s Field Director or DFO and obtain allotment confirmation.
Important: MP Forest Online is an official protected-area permit system. Its publicly displayed functions concern entry permits and associated bookings; it should not be treated as confirmation that an FRH room has been reserved.

14. Maharashtra
Maharashtra Forest Department Resort Booking
The Forest Department operates a separate resort reservation page within its safari and accommodation system.

- Enter check-in and check-out dates.
- Search for availability.
- Register or sign in and follow the reservation process.

15. Manipur
Wildlife destinations: Keibul Lamjao, Shirui and other protected areas.
Booking procedure: Enquire with the Manipur Tourism Department for government accommodation near the destination. Forest-department accommodation requires confirmation from the relevant wildlife or territorial forest division.

Important: Status of this directory
This is now organised state-wise across all 36 states and Union Territories, with booking routes and government authorities identified.
However, it is not yet a complete list of every forest rest house and government tourism hotel in every reserve forest and sanctuary. Many individual properties have no centralised booking portal, and some departmental rest houses are not open to ordinary tourists. Several of the linked government websites above are starting points for enquiries rather than independently verified accommodation checkout pages.

The entries should be published as verified only after the individual accommodation arrangements have been checked.
