Introduction
Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve, situated in Bundi district of Rajasthan, is India’s 52nd Tiger Reserve. Notified in 2022 under Project Tiger, the reserve occupies a strategic position between Ranthambore and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserves and is expected to strengthen ecological connectivity across eastern Rajasthan. Its dry deciduous forests, rugged hills, seasonal rivers and grasslands provide suitable habitat for tigers and other wildlife.

Location
The reserve lies in Bundi district of southeastern Rajasthan and serves as an ecological link between Ranthambore and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserves.
History
Formerly protected as Ramgarh Vishdhari Wildlife Sanctuary, the landscape was upgraded to a Tiger Reserve in 2022, becoming India’s 52nd Tiger Reserve to promote long-term tiger conservation and habitat connectivity.
Landscape, Geography & Habitat
The reserve covers 1,501.89 sq km, including a core area of 481.90 sq km and a buffer area of 1,019.99 sq km. It comprises rugged hills, narrow valleys, dry deciduous forests, scrublands, grasslands and seasonal watercourses.
Flora
Dominant vegetation includes dhok, salar, khair, ber, tendu, bamboo in patches, acacia, neem, banyan and numerous grasses and medicinal plants adapted to semi-arid conditions.
Fauna
Wildlife includes Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Striped Hyena, Indian Wolf in adjoining areas, Caracal (rare), Sambar, Chital, Nilgai, Chinkara, Wild Boar, Indian Fox and more than 250 bird species. Reptiles include Indian Rock Python, Monitor Lizard and Cobra.
Rivers & Water Bodies
The Mej and Mangli rivers together with seasonal streams and waterholes provide critical water sources for wildlife.
Other Attractions
Historic Bundi region, scenic valleys, birdwatching, wildlife safaris and interpretation facilities are major attractions.

Summers are extremely hot, the southwest monsoon brings moderate rainfall and winters are cool and pleasant.

Nearest airport: Jaipur. Nearest railway stations: Bundi and Kota. The reserve is well connected by road from Jaipur, Kota and Bundi.

October to March offers the most comfortable weather for wildlife tourism.
