Hyderabad, July 18: Morning walkers at Hyderabad’s KBR National Park were in for an unexpected wildlife encounter after an approximately eight-foot-long Indian rock python was spotted slithering across a walkway inside the park on Saturday morning. The sighting, captured on mobile phones by visitors, quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention.

According to Hyderabad District Forest Officer Srinivas, the python was seen at around 7 a.m. crossing one of the park’s walking tracks. He explained that such sightings are not unusual, as KBR Park is a protected urban forest spread over several acres and provides suitable habitat for wildlife, including pythons.

The sudden appearance of the large snake startled many walkers, prompting forest authorities to temporarily restrict access to the section of the park where the reptile was seen. The precautionary measure was taken to ensure the safety of both visitors and the snake until it moved away from the public pathway.

Wildlife experts note that Indian rock pythons are non-venomous constrictors and generally avoid human contact. Their presence in protected forest habitats is considered an indicator of a healthy ecosystem. Officials have urged the public not to panic or attempt to approach or disturb wild animals if encountered, and instead inform forest personnel immediately.

The incident has once again highlighted the rich biodiversity thriving within Hyderabad’s KBR National Park, one of the city’s most important green spaces, where a variety of reptiles, birds and mammals continue to coexist alongside urban development.
