A leopard cub was found trapped inside the historic Daulatabad Fort in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, prompting a swift rescue operation by the Forest Department. Wildlife officials safely secured the cub and immediately initiated efforts to reunite it with its mother rather than moving it into captivity.

According to forest officials, the rescue team cordoned off the area to prevent disturbance from tourists and local visitors. Camera traps and monitoring equipment have been installed near the site where the cub was found so that the mother leopard can locate and retrieve her offspring naturally. Officials are minimizing human contact with the cub to maximize the chances of a successful reunion.

Experts note that mother leopards often leave their cubs hidden in secure locations while they hunt. In such situations, the preferred wildlife management practice is to reunite healthy cubs with their mothers, as this offers the best chance for their survival in the wild and avoids unnecessary captivity.
