Ropar Wetland is geographically located in the Rupnagar district of Punjab. Located at Rupnagar town on Chandigarh-Manali highway.

History and Year of Notification

The sanctuary was officially notified in 2002 (Ramsar Site) under Indian wildlife conservation frameworks. Created by Ropar headworks barrage in 1952; designated a Ramsar Site in 2002.
