Oussudu (Ousteri) Bird Sanctuary is geographically located in the Puducherry & Villupuram district of Puducherry. 10 km west of Pondicherry city center.

History and Year of Notification

The sanctuary was officially notified in 2008 under Indian wildlife conservation frameworks. Declared a Bird Sanctuary in 2008 by Puducherry UT Government and Tamil Nadu Forest Department.

Freshwater lake, reed beds, lotus mats, and surrounding acacia groves.

Spot-billed Pelican, Eurasian Spoonbill, White Ibis, Openbill Stork, Darter, Little Grebe, Cotton Teal, Common Teal, Pintail, and Cormorant.
