Introduction
Bordoibam-Bilmukh Bird Sanctuary, situated in the Lakhimpur & Dhemaji district of Assam, is one of India’s most celebrated avian sanctuaries. Bordoibam-Bilmukh Bird Sanctuary is an oxbow riverine wetland sanctuary in Upper Assam created by the historical flooding course of the Subansiri River.

History and Year of Notification
The sanctuary was officially notified in 1996 under Indian wildlife conservation frameworks. Notified as a Wildlife Sanctuary by the Assam Forest Department in July 1996 to protect the wetland bird migration corridor.

Natural oxbow lake (Bil), floating grassy vegetation mats (Phumdis), marshland, and tropical wet evergreen forest edge.
